Hunting For Fall Steelhead

Fall Steelhead Fishing In The River
Fall Steelhead

Saturday morning I went out with my fishing friend Kevin for some fall steelhead fishing. We met up at one of the main tributaries in our area around 6am and had lines in the river at first light. It had rained earlier in the week and the river was still a little murky leaving fish with low visibility to see our baits.

We had a couple morning hits that didn’t result in caught fish and decided to move on to another river in hopes to catch some steelhead. The water was clearer at Location Two and we were spotting fish.  I started drifting the pool and within minutes we were pulling out some decent small steelhead.

My friend alerted me to a bigger one he spotted, I drifted through and she took it! This one was stronger and putting up a good fight running around and jumping a handful of times. Cant wait to hit the rivers again and find some big ones!

Those steelhead do put up a great fight, like bass on steroids! Only had the pleasure of fishing them once, can’t wait for my next opp. Great job dude, keep up the great work!

Thanks! Bass on steroids is a good analogy.

Great story Ben! Always a pleasure fishing with you! I’m looking forward to our next trip! We still have over a month of the best steelheading of the year coming up! And you should defiantly come do a Quinte walleye trip before freeze up!

Space still available for fully guided angling adventures!

Trout can be great fighters and really bend your rod, nice fish.
